thisisneverthat SS21 Resurrects Styles from the ’90s and ’00s

South Korean apparel juggernaut thisisneverthat again channels silhouettes from the ’90s and ’00s for its Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Compared to the GORE-TEX collaboration seen back in October, the new lineup is a lot more colorful and packs a dynamic range of light mid-layers in line with the previous Spring/Summer offering.

A variety of styles influenced by retro sportswear, workwear and streetwear pervade the collection, realized in thisisneverthat’s preferred baggy cuts. One notable item represents these disparate influences: a gray floral denim jacket features twin chest pockets, silver-toned buttons and a tiny “thisisneverthat” logo sewn onto the left chest — its matching bucket hat and denim jeans sport the same print and relaxed fit.

Another highlight is a black quilted zip-up jacket that has a slightly oversized fit, raised collars, tonal zippers and another small logo emblazoned on the chest pocket to drive home the retro influence. Of course, there’s much, much more on hand, including acid-washed cargo pants, a flame-printed long-sleeve, graphic T-shirt, gray hoodie and a beige parka, demonstrating the wide-ranging taste on hand.

Expect the SS21 collection to land February 8 on thisisneverthat’s website.

A similar sense of throwback styling pervades YSTRDY’s TMRRW’s own SS21 looks.
