Mac Miller Posthumously Earns Second Platinum Plaque for “Self Care”

The late Mac Miller has earned a new RIAA certification for his track “Self Care.”

Chart Data reported that the Swimming cut has sold a total of two million units in the United States, officially reaching double platinum status. “Self Care” was first released in July 2018 as the lead single of his fifth studio album — the last one he released before his sudden death in September later that year — and was certified platinum (selling one million units) in May 2019.

The new plaque arrives just a week after Chart Data also reported that his posthumous album Circles has spent a whole year on the Billboard 200. Labelled as the counterpart to Swimming, the project dropped in January 2020 and debuted at No. 3. As of writing, Circles currently occupies the No. 84 spot on the Billboard 200. The album was also named one of HYPEBEAST’s Best Albums of 2020.

Elsewhere in music, Toronto officially declared February 7 as “The Weeknd Day.”
