Unveiled at Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2021 presentations in Tokyo and Shanghai, the Inflatable Monogram Canvas Blouson and Gilet from the seasonal range have now sparked a DIY trend in China. The exposure in the nation thanks to the massive runway show last year has now pushed creative people to craft their own versions of the unique outerwear with chips, air cushion packaging and more.
Referencing the inflatable figures involved in the show that echoed the SS21 collection‘s puppet theme, the Virgil Abloh-designed blouson and gilet styles are made in Belgium out of polyvinylchloride and can be inflated as desired.
The inflatable Monogram Canvas Blouson comes in a translucent finish embossed with the luxury fashion house’s signature Monogram motif. The frosted puffer jacket like design features a central white zipper closure, removable hood with snap button and valves for inflation. Aside from a translucent option, the Inflatable Monogram Canvas Gilet also comes in a mix of transparent PVC with a classic brown Monogram canvas backing. The technical vest is styled with a V neck, central zip at the front and three valves for inflation.
